How long will a watch last?

Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 07:06 AM Author: admin

This is kind of like asking how long a car will last. It all depends on how you use it. If you put wear and tear on it regularly by driving and using it frequently and in rugged situations, or in this case wear the watch the same way, it won’t last as long as if, say, you used it at times that you could treat it with care. If so, our watches will last at least a few years.

  • Currently, the quickest way to detect a fake designer watch without taking the watch apart, is by the date magnification bubble in the crystal. The crystal on the authentic Rolex has a magnification bubble with a 2.5 times magnification, causing the date to appear significantly larger when viewed through the bubble. A replica Rolex watch will often only have 1.5 times magnification and therefore the date will appear only slightly larger.
  • Winding crown: Most replica Rolex watches lack a rubber gasket around the winding crown and therefore don’t screw in completely. Genuine Rolex watches Have winding crowns that screw in completely and are surrounded by a rubber gasket for water proofing. Only authentic Rolex watches, not replicas can take submersion in water.
  • Bezel Ring: Rolex Knockoffs usually have bezel rings that are loose and notches that are too large. The bezels on authentic Rolex watches should be tight and have 60 smooth clicks.
  • Graphics: Although some replica watch craftsmen have mastered the art of recreating the graphics on the face of the watch, those markings are still the most difficult to produce and the most common visual flaw on fake designer watches.
  • Lighting: Most designer watches have hands as well as hour markers that will glow in the dark, in addition to their normal illumination, Replicas usually lack this feature.
  • Second hand motion: Genuine Rolex watches have second hands that sweep rather than tick as they keep time. Only the best quality replica watches can come close to imitating this.
  • Weight: An authentic designer watch will be significantly heavier than a replica, if it has an 18k Gold case, although some replica watch manufacturers are now adding extra weight to compensate for this.
  • Wrist bands: A real designer watch will have wrist bands that are secured by actual screws rather than pins, that appear to be screws, although some fake watches now have screws as well.
  • Gold: Authentic designer watches use only 18k gold rather than 24k which is to brassy and yellow in color.
  • Divers Extension: A genuine Submariner will always come with an extra fold out for wet suites when diving.
  • Back of watch: The only marking on the back of Genuine Rolex should be the holographic image. Only fakes have clear backs, serial or item numbers or the Rolex crown.

Although most replica watches will have accurately imitated one or more of the features mentioned above, they will usually have at least one noticeable flaw that you will see if you use these rules as a guide. So take the time to examine your watch closely.

Some more tips on purchasing a replica Rolex

Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 07:06 AM Author: admin

Based on our years of experience, we have assembled some basic guidelines for selecting the highest quality replica Rolex watch.

  1. A higher quality replica watch that will have a holographic image on the back, not just a green sticker.
  2. The glass covering the watch face should be hard enough to resist scratching. If you can run a key across the face without leaving a mark, it’s quality glass.
  3. The second hand should sweep instead of ticking.
  4. The wristband should be secured to the watch tightly with screws instead of pins.
  5. There should be engravings of serial numbers on the watch where the hinge meets the band.
  6. If the watch displays the date, it should fit perfectly inside the window, even while displaying wide numbers like 30.
  7. The glass face of the watch should contain a small bubble for magnification.

These small details are often enough to determine the amount of time and craftsmanship put into a replica, and therefore the overall quality of the watch.

Legal Considerations

Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 07:06 AM Author: admin

Obviously, Rolex, Chanel, Tag Heur, Cartier, Gucci, Omega, Vuitton and other replica watches are not legal. The afore mentioned brands are trademarks of their respective companies, and anyone who makes, buys, or sells replicas of those watch brands have not been given permission by the companies. Therefore it is at the very least, it is trademark infringement. There are several other civil/criminal liabilities that may result from involvement with the designer replica watch industry. This article will focus primarily on the situations that are common and likely rather than laws or unlikely penalties meant to scare consumers. For example, when you purchase a designer replica watch, you could be sued for thousands of dollars and/or face a prison sentence. But how likely is it that you will? Not very. There are generally 4 parties involved in the trafficking of designer replica watches, and all will be discussed. They are the Consumer, the Retailer, the Wholesaler, and the Watch Manufacturer. Note: The information in this article is based on opinions and real-life experiences. In no way can it be considered legal advice. You must consult a qualified legal adviser or attorney for legal advice. Watch Solutions accepts no liability for any use, misuse, or abuse of any information included in this article. The Consumer The Consumer refers to the end user or consumer who purchases replica watches for their own personal use. Watch consumers have little to fear when it comes to prosecution. The worst that could happen to them is being prosecuted for possession of counterfeit goods (yes, a replica IS legally considered a counterfeit good). Replica watch consumers really have very little to worry about legally. We have no record of any cases where a person purchased a few watches and was prosecuted or sued. The watch consumers biggest concern is avoiding replica dealers selling low quality fake watches or abusing credit card and other personal information. The Retailer The Retailer refers to dealers who sell designer replicas directly to the Consumer. They purchase watches from wholesalers, and sell them on the streets or over the Internet. In the past, Rolex, Chanel, Tag Heur, Cartier, Gucci, Omega, Vuitton or other designer watch companies have never actively prosecuted street retailers. As a matter of fact, there are many dealers just down the street from Rolex’s headquarters who have been selling for decades. This is because even if Rolex or other designer watch companies won a civil lawsuit against a street dealer, they would never get to collect any damages. The greatest concern for street dealers is raids, confiscations or being thrown in jail for a few nights. Traditionally, designer watch manufacturers haven’t been very concerned that someone sells replicas of their watches on the streets. The effect on the companies profits are small due to the limited reach and clientele of the fake watch dealers. Rolex occasionally conducts raids and seizures to stop replica watch dealers on the streets. But they rarely bring criminal prosecution unless the dealer tried to counterfeit the watch by presenting it as the real thing. Due to the massive audience the internet creates for replica watch dealers, Rolex and other watch companies have recently begun suing and prosecuting online replica retailers. There are currently several high-profile criminal cases involving Rolex, Chanel, Tag Heur, Cartier, Gucci, Omega, Vuitton and other designer watch manufacturers. Every website selling Rolex replicas will eventually get served legal papers. The civil charges filed on dealers who sell watches as replicas are generally trademark infringements, and the initial damages range from $500,000 to $1 million. However, the final amount paid out to designer watch companies will depend on how many replica watches the dealer has sold. For example, if Rolex finds $300,000 of Rolex replica revenue by the watch retailer, Rolex will usually ask for $300,000 in punitive and legal damages. And they will not lose in a civil court if they can prove the fake watch dealer has shipped even one replica watch. The criminal charges filed on dealers are generally for trafficking in counterfeit goods. Whether or not the dealer sells The watches as replicas or real designer watches, the product is legally considered a “counterfeit good” according to Title 18 United States Code 2320 of the Criminal Code, which reads: “TITLE 18 UNITED STATES CODE, PART 1, CHAPTER 13, SECTIONS 2320 – Trafficking in Counterfeit Goods and Services Offense: Intentionally trafficking or attempting to traffic in goods and services and knowingly using a counterfeit mark on or in connection with such goods and services.” The penalties read: “…if an individual, be fined not more than $2,000,000 or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both, and, if a person other than an individual, be fined not more than $5,000,000. In the case of an offense by a person under this section that occurs after that person is convicted of another offense under this section, the person convicted, if an individual, shall be fined not more than $5,000,000 or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both, and if other than an individual, shall be fined not more than $15,000,000.” Basically the sale of one replica watch is sufficient to invoke this criminal code. Therefore the more replicas a watch retailer sells, greater the penalties will be. There is great potential for profit, but also for loss. Replica watch dealers can face charge backs on merchant bank account months after a credit card purchase has been made, seizure of assets, and frozen bank accounts (which happens every time Rolex files suite). So be aware of the very real possibility of civil and criminal charges for people selling designer replica watches online before considering such endeavors. The Wholesaler Whenever a replica watch dealer is prosecuted by a designer watch company like Rolex, Chanel, Tag Heur, Cartier, Gucci, Omega, Vuitton etc., the dealer ends up supplying the authorities with information about their wholesaler in order to reduce any fines and/or penalties. The designer watch company then prosecutes the wholesaler and any other online replica dealers that the wholesaler supplies. Replica watch wholesalers have much greater risk of prosecution since they are generally in possession of the largest quantity of replicas at any given time, and are the source for multiple replica dealers. Therefore, raiding a wholesaler not only allows designer watch companies to take a larger quantity of watches out of circulation, it also leads to the prosecution of many other replica retailers supplied by the wholesaler. Do not be a replica watch wholesaler. The more you watches you sell, the greater the penalties, and the greater the likelihood that private investigators paid by designer watch companies will find you. Manufacturer Our knowledge of the legal ramifications faced by designer replica watch manufacturers is limited and we are unable to discuss many of them. It is the replica watch manufacturers who are fined and penalized the hardest when sued the designer watch companies. They are divided into two types: manufacturers outside the US who manufacture the replicas then smuggle them into the US, or manufacturers inside the US who smuggle unmarked watches into the country and then engrave and mark them with markings of the various designer watch companies. As far as the fake watch manufacturers outside US, there is very little designer watch companies can do. At best they can try to put pressure on the other countries to prosecute the replica manufacturers, but those countries rarely cooperate. And for replica watch manufacturers inside US, they are few and far between. Usually the only way designer watch companies find manufacturers inside US is by luck. Occasionally they prosecute a replica wholesaler, then discover watch manufacturing equipment and determine that they are the manufacturer as well. But tracking them down nearly impossible. Summary In conclusion it would be safe to say that buying one or two designer replica watches won’t bring any criminal or civil proceedings. It is the retailers, wholesalers and watch manufacturers that are the targets of the designer watch companies and their attorneys.

Breitling and other watch brands

Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 07:06 AM Author: admin

The best way to distinguish a Breitling replica watch from the genuine article is the movement of the second hand, and the functionality of the chronograph. The movement should be automatic, meaning that the second hand slowly sweeps from second to second rather than ticking. The chronographs should be controlled by pressing the little buttons and should be able to function as stop watches rather than just counting seconds, months, and days. Low Quality replica watch chronographs either don’t work at all, or don’t functions as stop watches.

Chanel, Tag Heur, Cartier, Gucci, Omega, Louis Vuitton and other desiger replica watches more difficult to distinguish from the real thing. Due to the extremely detailed design and construction of genuine Rolex watches, even the best replica watch manufacturers cannot match every fine detail. That is why we recommend getting a picture of a genuine Rolex watch to use for comparison when looking for the real thing, or even just a high quality replica Rolex watch. In doing so you’ll notice at least some small details missing when you compare the genuine picture to replica watch. Cartier replica watches for example, generally have roman numerals that are larger than on the real thing. In fact, size is by far the simplest flaw to look for. Almost every Rolex replica watch in the world, even the ones with correct engravings, will have some error involving the size of the characters. Usually the roman numerals or the luminescent markers are smaller, or more commonly, the minute/hour hands are not the same size and shape on the replica watch as on the real watch.

The following recommendations are for people interested in either high quality Rolex replica watches or the genuine thing.

  • PURCHASE GENUINE WATCHES ONLY FROM AN AUTHORIZED DESIGNER WATCH DEALER, they are carefully picked out by the watch companies and is the only way to guarantee you will be getting a 100% authentic item.
  • AVOID purchasing genuine or replica designer watches from auctions or estate sales. Or eBay. avoid dealers who put a “disclaimer” in their auctions.
  • Make sure the website you buy the watch from has a good return policy.
  • If it looks too good to be true– it probably is! Fraudulent or low grade replica watch sites offer amazing deals on watches you can’t return or will never even receive.
  • Get a certificate, a box, AND all booklets with your watch, replica watches normally only come with the certificate and box, not the booklets.
  • WHEN IN DOUBT, DO NOT PURCHASE THE WATCH!

Slight Variations

One major problem found on most replicas is that each replica may be slightly different. This is regardless of whether it is a Swiss, Japanese, or even Asians. Some are made with more markings than others; some are made with more gold plating than others. We will state below what some possible variations are, and how to ensure you get a good one.
The majority of replica watches in this category are modeled after each other. So that means that the luminescent markers all look very similar. The second and minute hands are very similar as well on certain watches. The same goes for the screw-down crowns without engravings. To minimize manufacturing costs, many parts on the watches are re-used on other watches. So don’t be surprised to find the exact same second/minute hands on a Rolex as you do on a Tag replica.

What types of Replica Rolex are out there?

Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 07:06 AM Author: admin

Even though it is legal to possess a Rolex replica, the manufacturers of these watches are in violation of trademark and copyright laws. The largest concern for consumers is being scammed into buying a replica Rolex watch that is presented as the real thing, but actually a fake. If you’re looking for a genuine Rolex watch, the safest way to go about it is to contact Rolex for information on local dealers.

Because Rolex refuses to sell anything over the internet, any site that claims to sell real Rolexes online is more likely to be scamming consumers with low quality replicas rather than actual Rolexes or even High quality replicas. In fact, Replica watch buyers who are looking online for a high quality replica are more likely to be satisfied the someone looking for a discounted, or wholesale genuine Rolex.

What types of Rolex fakes are out there?
When selecting a Rolex replica, you should be aware of the three main types of replicas available. They are listed below in order of highest quality.

Swiss Rolex Replicas: Swiss Rolex Replicas are known as the highest quality replica watches available today. They generally cost the manufacturer at least $300 to produce. They are recognizable by their durable construction, their striking resemblance to genuine Rolex watches, and most particularly, the sweeping motion of the second hand that closely imitates that of a real Rolex watch. These Replicas are so high quality that less experienced jewelers have difficulty distinguishing them from genuine Rolexes. Swiss Rolex replicas are called “Swiss” not because they were necessarily constructed in Switzerland, but because of the internal mechanics of the watch and the location where those internal parts were manufactured.

Japanese Rolex Replicas: Second on the quality list of Rolex replica watches, are the Japanese replicas. These middle of the road quality replicas cost about $40 to make, but are usually known for being well priced given the quality you receive. Although these watches have a pretty good reputation, they aren’t high quality enough to fool jewelers or watch experts because of the motion of the second hand and the Japanese manufactured parts.

Chinese Rolex Replicas: The lowest grade of Rolex replicas available are the Chinese. These generally cost about $7 to make. Chinese watches are still good quality watches, they are just poor replications of Rolex and are easily spotted by watch experts and jewelers.

Basically all Rolex and other designer replica watches are imported from china, including the “Swiss made”, “Made in Japan” and other replica types. The movement may be from Switzerland, Japan or china, but all Replica watch cases and wrist bands come from china and there is variation in quality and consistency.

There are no such things as an Italian or German designer replica watches.

A replica watch dealer may try to sell watches as “European made” in attempt to increase the price of the replica, and relieve the consumers concerns about cheaply made Asian replica watches. But in reality there is no such thing as an Italian or German made replica designer watch, only Asian ones passed off as higher quality than they really are.

Three Main Things to Avoid

Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 07:06 AM Author: admin

1. Replica retail web sites that will only accept Western Union payments and COD/Money orders: When a replica site only accepts CODs, money orders, Western Union Money Gram, or wire transfers, it’s usually because there is no way for the consumer to get reimbursed if their merchandise is damaged or of unsatisfactory quality. Only a credit card purchase can be reimbursed without the sellers’ efforts or approval. We have even heard cases of people receive empty boxes from these sites.

2. Bad customer support/service: Before purchasing a designer replica watch, you should make sure that the replica website has an adequate customer support system. Try sending an email with a question about one of their replica watches, and see how quick their response time is. If they have a customer service number (which they should), call it and see if you get a real person and if so how long you spend on hold. These things will be a good indication of the quality of their products as well as the legitimacy of their business. If they sell high quality replica watches and intend to continue doing so, they will have good support. If not, they are probably out to take your money and run.

3. Web sites that claim to have High quality watches for discount prices: There are several replica designer watch dealers online that offer “discount” or “wholesale” prices for Grade 1 watches. Keeping in mind that NO Grade 1 replica watch will ever retail for less than $700.00, Therefore, once the cash transaction has been made, it is unlikely that any of these replicas will actually meet the high quality standards you would expect from a Grade 1 replica in fact, it’s more likely you’ll receive an Asian street grade replica watch or nothing at all.

By using these three tips when considering potential replica watch retail sites to order from, you should be able to narrow your selection down to only the legitimate replica sites, and come away with the high quality replica you were looking for.
